Granny Square - Bow

This motif was challenging but fun. It comes from”201 crochet motifs, block, projects & ideas” by Melody Griffiths, page 84.

First, a long ribbon of crochet is created then, very carefully following instructions, it is tied into a bow. If the instructions have been followed exactly then the correct number of stitches are in the correct place for the lacy border to be constructed around it. If I were to make it again I would allow a few more stitches in the front of the overhand knot in the middle. This would let it sit a little flatter. Never-the-less, I am certain that once this is blocked it will sit perfectly.

This is the seventh block I have made following the patterns in this book and, so far, they have all been completed exactly as depicted. This is not always the case with crochet/knitting patterns so it is very satisfying to find reliable guides.

Note: After blocking it measured 19 cm x 19 cm.
