Granny Square - Apple Tree

Until now, I have only selected blocks that are square, and in the previous book I used, “100 Colourful Granny Squares to Crochet” by Leonie Morgan, all the squares were the same size. I don’t want to just use one reference book because that would be boring and I’m easily bored but the blocks and panels in “201 crochet motifs, block, projects & ideas” by Melody Griffiths are many different sizes and shapes. I think this is one of the things that stumped me when I began the project and led to it being lost and forgotten.

This time around I’m just going to make all the designs that appeal to me and work out how to join them together if I ever get to that stage. The old “first things first” adage. So … this next design is rectangular (but still fits the general description of a granny square. It is the Apple Tree from “201 crochet motifs, block, projects & ideas” by Melody Griffiths, page 79 and 80, it measured 12 cm x 17 cm.
