The flower centre of this block is a most peculiar pattern that works surprisingly well and is not as difficult as it looks at first glace. The only complaint I have is that the bulk of the flower has to be sewn in after the square is finished. How many times have I said that when I knit I don’t want to sew? Well the same goes for crochet. Having said that in this case it’s not really such a big deal, more of a minor frustration.
This is the fortieth square, it comes from “75 Crocheted Floral Blocks” by Betty Barnden on page 75. I have now come to the end of the first ball of every colour. I love that exciting/nerve wracking point where the end of the ball is neigh and my constant thought is will it or won’t it be enough. Both the tan and the dark grey miraculously ended with less than a metre of yarn left. I love it when that happens.
