Centenary of ANZAC StreetArt Murial

Free activities and tourist attractions in Melbourne.

Laneway Street Art

One of the many free attractions in Melbourne is its rich tapestry of laneway street art. It costs nothing to wander in and through these laneways and the quality and range of the works is breathtaking. It can while away hours or days according to your taste. I personally do not understand why graffiti artists cover other street artists work with their tags but then I have no experience with this art form. This “What’s on” Victorian website has maps and resources for anyone who wants to explore these laneways.

Drewery Lane

Centenary of ANZAC StreetArt Murial

Drewery Lane is home to the Centenary of ANZAC StreetArt Murial. It was created by Legacy widows, family and friends to mark the centenary of ANZAC on 11 November 2016. The Facebook address given on the project plaque no longer exists however Legacy can be found on Facebook here. There is more street art on Drury Lane but today I am posting the Legacy project because I found it very interesting.

Is it safe to travel in Australia?

Australia’s strict pandemic response has provided some sanctuary from the chaos seen in many other countries. Australians can’t (and possibly wouldn’t want to) travel overseas but travel within the country is returning.

At this point in time (April 2021) it is possible to travel within each state without restrictions. Interstate travel is also currently without restriction but the rapid response of state governments to outbreaks, particularly when they involve one of the divergent strains means a quarantine order could be imposed at any time.

The risk for interstate travel is that a 14 day period of isolation could be necessary at either end of the journey. People have been caught in the past when travelling by car, where they have been turned back at the border or denied access into or out of the state. There have also been instances where the quarantine order has been enacted whilst travellers were in flight and they have been met on arrival with a mandatory hotel quarantine at their own cost. Most people accept this as for the best interests of the whole community.

Are you stuck in a pandemic travel ban? Memory Lane Time Travelling Agency is the only way to go. Time travel vicariously with me as I tour the famous Melbourne street art laneways

Next stop Blender Lane.

Who am I? I am different things to different people. I am a poet, a visual artist, a sculptor of found objects, and a writer. I am a bookkeeper, an office manager, an administrator and software support consultant, even a short-order cook and barista. I am a parent, a grandparent, a sibling, a cousin and a friend. I am a traveller, a technophile, a philosopher and a student of all things.
