How can I travel during a pandemic travel ban? Memory Lane Time Travelling Agency is the only way to go. Time travel vicariously with me as I relive the glory days of a pre-COVID world. It’s Glasgow in November 2012.
I arrived in Glasgow yesterday on a TransPennine Express train. I’m staying in the Euro Hostel on Clyde St only a few minutes’ walk from the train station. It is situated on the banks of the Clyde River with its walkways and pedestrian bridges directly across the road. I crashed at about 7.30m and slept like the dead. I spent today familiarizing myself with the CBD as well as conducting some personal family history enquiries.
I went on the hop-on-hop-off bus tour around the city. The audio commentary is accessed with supplied earphones plugged into the bus. I had intended to go to the Botanic Gardens but by the time I got there, it was a too late to stop because the bus only passed once an hour and the last bus leaves at 4 pm, I never did get to those gardens.
In the evening I wandered up and over the walkways and pedestrian bridges taking in the sights and sounds of the city. This would have to be the best time of year to visit the city because everything is covered in Christmas decorations and everywhere is bustling with Christmas markets.
Tomorrow I’m going to explore the Riverside Museum.
