How can I survive a pandemic travel ban? Memory Lane Time Travelling Agency is the only way to go. Time travel vicariously with me as I relive the glory days of a pre-COVID world. It’s early December 2012 and I’m travelling to London for a few days of sightseeing.

After a day of shopping, I was really tired so I couldn’t decide whether or not to do an evening Rippper Tour. I was really excited because I am due to depart for a tour of Egypt in the morning and I had no hope of getting to sleep so I decided to go on the tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It took nearly an hour to get there on the train and I had to change twice. The meeting place was in sight of the Tower of London so it was spooky enough to start with.

The tour guide was really entertaining.

Ripper Guide
The Ripper Guide was a ripper of a guide

We walked all over the area where Jack the Ripper did his dastardly deeds. The guide gave us a lot of history about the area and the many people affected, victims, police, and witnesses. At the end of the tour, he told us how each of the three main suspects was either locked up in the asylum for life, emigrated, or died soon after the last victim.

Note: I like to provide a link, whenever possible, to the place/event/institution I am blogging about. Unfortunately in this instance, I have not kept a clear enough record to distinguish which of the many, many, Ripper tours I actually attended.

Who am I? I am different things to different people. I am a poet, a visual artist, a sculptor of found objects, and a writer. I am a bookkeeper, an office manager, an administrator and software support consultant, even a short-order cook and barista. I am a parent, a grandparent, a sibling, a cousin and a friend. I am a traveller, a technophile, a philosopher and a student of all things.
