Early morning Melbourne

How can I travel during a pandemic? Well, I’m travelling down memory lane, publicly reposting my private travel blog as a new anonymised travel memory. Time travel vicariously with me as I relive the glory days of a pre-COVID world.

It’s the last weekend in August 2018 and I’m going to spend it in Melbourne with my son, daughter-in-law, daughter, and my daughter’s friend. It begins on Friday night with an overnight trip with said daughter on the Spirit of Tasmania.

Onboard the Spirit waiting for my daughter. She works till 6 pm on Friday’s. I took the dogs to a friend who will look after them, they were completely confused when I left. I bought some sliced turkey, two salads and a few snacks at the local IGA on the way to the terminal. That will save us buying dinner on board.

I checked out the four-bed cabin hoping I could have a bottom bunk but another two women were already there and both have taken a bottom bunk. One has a breathing machine so we won’t be getting much sleep.

Hint: Travelling in real-time? Check in again at 12.00 noon (Australian Eastern Standard Time) tomorrow. Arrived from the future? Skip through the timeline here.

Who am I? I am different things to different people. I am a poet, a visual artist, a sculptor of found objects, and a writer. I am a bookkeeper, an office manager, an administrator and software support consultant, even a short-order cook and barista. I am a parent, a grandparent, a sibling, a cousin and a friend. I am a traveller, a technophile, a philosopher and a student of all things.
